Ten of Swords (Upright) – Being Focused on a Fresh Start in the Midst of Chaos
The Reading
Have you ever caught yourself daydreaming about leaving your current life behind? Imagine, if you will, creating a fresh start for yourself, like the tales told in books such as “Wild” by Cheryl Strayed or “Into the Wild” by John Krakauer. Let’s face it, the allure of a clean slate can be magnetic, even if it feels like a dramatic notion. Consequently, the Ten of Swords (Upright) gently hints that you can embark on this journey without leaving your loved ones behind or braving it alone in the wilderness. Echoing the wisdom of Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh, who advises, “Many of us have been running all our lives. Practice stopping.”
Story Time
For example, please allow me to recount a story where I found myself in the role of a first responder, arriving at the scene of a car accident just moments after it occurred. Incidentally, my colleague and I resided near each other and it took me no time to get to his location. Once there, I discovered him standing outside his vehicle, which another driver had rear-ended. His mind was racing, and I found it challenging to get him to focus. I had to intervene with a firm command: “STOP!” His thoughts were spinning so rapidly that he couldn’t discern any pain amidst the chaos. Thus, I started guiding him through a thorough head-to-toe assessment, I ensured there were no concealed injuries.
In the End
This story is meant to illustrate that we often overlook physical or emotional discomfort in the whirlwind of life. Therefore, the Ten of Swords serves as a gentle reminder that you hold the power to embark on a fresh start, much like the characters in those captivating stories, sans selling everything and going it alone. Rather, it encourages you to pause, engage in self-reflection, and commence the transformative healing journey.
Therefore, I encourage you to take a moment to pause, akin to the characters in “Wild” or “Into the Wild.” Tune in to the whispers of your heart. Embrace the prospect of renewal, for it marks the initial step towards embracing the idea of a rejuvenating new beginning.
With warmth and unwavering encouragement,
Maggie
